Advisory Board - Fundamentals of Scheduling Training

TThe Advisory Board is appointed by the IECE Board of Directors and its primary purpose is to serve as an expert resource to the IECE President, providing ongoing advice and support to the IECE in the promotion, advocacy and instruction of Engineering Ethics. Normally, the Advisory Board acts informally and does not have the same organizational responsibilities as the Board of Directors.

The primary responsibility of the Advisory Board is the creation of a proprietary Body of Knowledge for the International Committee on Engineering Ethics. The Advisory Board will be accountable for creating and improving on an annual basis a Body of Knowledge that will be received and approved by the IECE Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting. All proprietary rights, privileges and benefits accruing from the development, distribution and educational use of the IECE Body of Knowledge will remain with the IECE. From time to time the Board of Directors, acting through the IECE President will request the Advisory Board to provide comment in the form of written advice on issues related to the IECE Engineering Ethics Body of Knowledge.  

Role of the Advisory Board

The role of the Advisory Board is to provide an ‘expert resource’ to the IECE Board of Directors by having Members contribute the knowledge, experience and judgment gained in decades of engineering practice in Canadian society. It is led by the IECE President and is comprised of prominent and highly respected practitioners from the Engineering Community in Canada and are selected based upon:

1) Knowledge of Engineering Ethics; and/or

2) Commitment to Promoting Engineering Ethics; and/or

3) Capability and Dedication to Instruction of Engineering Ethics.

They agree to serve the mission and purpose of the IECE on a voluntary basis, and forgo all claim of benefit or remuneration for their contributions. From time to time, the IECE may choose to publicize the names and a brief profile of the Advisory Board members.

Member Responsibilities (2 Year Term)

Advisory Board members are formally appointed by the Board of Directors, and an Advisory Board Member that accepts this responsibility to serve will be prepared to:

 Meet regularly and participate actively in the creation and ongoing improvement of the IECE Body of Knowledge.  

 Accept special assignments from the President (for example, to collect further data on a particular content issue.)

 Represent the IECE to organizations and the media when requested by the President.

 Plan for the Board of Director's participation in the approval process, and understand the Body of Knowledge is evolving and must be continuously improved.

 Actively promote the IECE Body of Knowledge in the Canadian and International Engineering and non-Engineering community.

 Help identify ‘experts’ and other resources in the community who will actively contribute to the IECE Body of Knowledge.

 Sign a confidentiality agreement with the IECE.
